Safety at Steelman
Steelman is built for real disagreement, not harm. We want every user to be able to test ideas, make a guess, and participate without being harassed, exploited, threatened, or exposed to abusive content.
Safety Standards for Everyone
Steelman prohibits content or activity that targets, exploits, deceives, or endangers people. This includes:
- Threats, targeted harassment, stalking, intimidation, doxxing, or unwanted sexual content.
- Hateful or dehumanizing attacks against people based on protected characteristics.
- Content that encourages self-harm, violence, exploitation, trafficking, or other serious illegal activity.
- Scams, phishing, malware, impersonation, or attempts to obtain private or sensitive information.
- Sharing another person's private, intimate, medical, financial, or identifying information without permission.
- Retaliating against someone for reporting a safety concern or trying to evade safety controls.
Child Safety
Steelman has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. We prohibit child sexual abuse material, including real, altered, computer-generated, or AI-generated depictions; sexualization of minors; grooming; sextortion; trafficking; enticement; requests for sexual content involving a minor; and links, instructions, or coded activity intended to obtain or distribute abusive material.
Never download, save, forward, or redistribute suspected child sexual abuse material in order to report it. When required by applicable law, we report apparent child sexual abuse material and related conduct to the appropriate regional or national authorities.
How to Report a Concern
Use the Report option where it appears in Steelman, or email support@steelman.co with the subject "Safety report." Include the relevant username, content link or identifier, and a short description. Do not attach or forward suspected illegal material.
How We Respond
We use account controls, reporting and blocking tools, automated checks, provider safety tools, and human review. Depending on the concern, we may limit visibility, remove or disable access to content, restrict or terminate accounts, preserve relevant records, or take other protective action.
Safety decisions can be difficult, especially in a product designed for contested ideas. We distinguish sincere disagreement from conduct that attacks or endangers people, and we review the surrounding context when we enforce our standards.
